Function Module Description

Bodiansoft-ITM 2.5 includes function modules of: Intelligent Knowledge Base Module, Interactive Translation (IT) Module, Translation Memory (TM) Module, Translation Saving (TM++) Module, Online Translation Module, Chinese-English Intelligent Input Suggest Module etc.

[Intelligent Knowledge Base Module]

Intelligent Knowledge Base is equivalent to the 2nd brain of a translator. Intelligent Knowledge Base Module has the functions of Choose, Create, Upgrade and Knowledge Base Expand etc. Word Bank is scientific and rational. It is case sensitive and can differentiate technical terms, plural or singular form of a noun, verb tenses and forms etc. For example, cat^猫，CAT^计算机辅助 翻译.

Standard Vocabulary Entry Import: As to translation companies, enterprises and experienced translator, they have accumulated plenty of profession-related words in daily work. And these resources are more accurate and relevant than the ones the system offers. Therefore the method of Standard Vocabulary Entry Import can be adopted to import the words to the chosen professional translation knowledge base.

User Word Bank Import: for example, copy.usr of User Bank from machine A to machine B, adopt the function of User Word Bank Input, so the translation knowledge sharing can be easily done between users.

Sentence Bank Import: sample sentence is one of the good means of increasing translation efficiency. If a user has previous translated materials (bilingual sentence pairs), click Knowledge Base->Sentence Bank Import->Standard Sentence Bank Import, then you can make use of the previous translated materials. To be sure, the same sentence needs not to be translated again. If you import modular sentence pairs (stemming from TM++ module), it is guaranteed that similar sentences need not to be translated again.

[Interactive Translation Module]

Interactive Translation (IT) Module, using intelligent knowledge base, automatically split and mark the words and phrases of the translating sentence, and display the meanings, and put the most frequently used meaning onto the top. Due to each word has many meanings, the translator can click the most suitable meaning. Using this module, the user can complete the comprehension and translation of the sentence through clicking. In the process of translating, it saves you looking up the dictionary and keyboard input. So the me¬chanical and repetitive work is minimized and the translator can focus on the creative thinking, to think about how to translate well and make the translation result perfect. Therefore, the translating speed is increased and so is the translation quality.

Interactive Translation (IT) module has keyboard handy move input, for the benefit of keyboard users. Concrete operations as follows: press “Ctrl” while choose the meaning via the direction key, left and right is to choose a word, up and down is to choose the best meaning. And when the chosen meaning becomes dark blue, press “Enter” so the meaning is onto the current cursor position in the translation area.

[Translation Memory (TM) Module]

Translation Memory (TM) module uses intelligent knowledge base and adopts translation saving technology and advanced matching algorithm, which can search the knowledge base fast. The same or similar sentence translation can be exported for reference. And the user can click ok or make a few alteration to get a correct translation. Through Translation Memory (TM) module, the resources can be reused. While increasing the translation efficiency, the accuracy and unity can be reached as well and it saves you much time and energy. The module can save the translation results in bilingual form into the intelligent knowledge base at the same time of translating.

[Super Intelligent Translation (TM++) Module]

TM++ Module has the following two functions: 1. Intelligent Self-learning: in the process of machine-human interactive translation, TM++ module will automatically learn the pattern or structure of the translated sentence and save it to the AI knowledge base. 2. Intelligent Translation Processing Function: using the patterns or structures in the AI knowledge base, TM++ function module can do fuzzy match, reasoning and speculating on the translating sentence, therefore provide a complete and exact translation. To be sure, a sentence of the same structure needs not to be translated again.

[Online Translation Module]

Online Translation Module can provide fast search and online translation for the professional translator while translating to avoid users switching between various softwares.

Online Search: in Bodiansoft-ITM 2.5, there are three ways of searching words online:

1.Pure Word Search

Click “Online Search” (IE icon) in Toolbar, then the “Online Translation” dialog will appear. On the left side of the dialog, type in a word in the translate textbox, click “Translate” button, the search result will appear on the right side of the default online search tool (i.e. Youdao Dict). If you want to use other online translation websites, just click on the website name on the left.

2. In the dialog of “Entry Add”, you can do online word search

Click “Entry Add” in the “Knowledge Base” menu bar, the “Add/Modify Entry” dialog will appear:

After typing in a new word in the dialog, click “Online Search” on the lower left, then you can search the word online.

3.when “Modify Entry” in the “Interactive Area”, you can do fast online word search

when the user is translating the current sentence, a word’s meaning doesn’t show or the meaning is not enough, click the word’s Modify Entry button and “Add/Modify Entry” dialog will appear, click lower left of the dialog “Online Search”, you can do fast online word search.

Online Sentence Translating:

As is shown in the below picture, when the program automatically chooses and translate a sentence, for example “The Dream of Translator”, if you want to get the automatic translation of a online translation website, just click “Online Translation” button in the toolbar, then you can open online translation module and send the said sentence to the online translation module. And the online translation module will automatically send the received sentence to the default online translation website (i.e. Google Online Translation) and get the automatic translation result. And when the program translates the next sentence, for example “You are a translator.”, the sentence will be automatically sent to the online translation module, and can be shown in the translation textbox on the upper left corner of the online translation module. Now click the “Translate” button on the right side of the translation textbox, you can get the automatic translation result of the default online translation website.

[Chinese-English Intelligent Input Suggest Module]

When translating from Chinese into English, as type in a word in the Translation Area, an input suggest box will automatically pop up so that the user can input quickly.

1)The contents in the Intelligent Input Suggest are the words that start with the typing letter of the meanings of the Chinese word;

2)When adding letters in the Translation Area, the system will automatically select the contents in the Intelligent Input Suggest box;

3)And when deleting letters in the Translation Area, the system will automatically resume the contents in the previous Intelligent Input Suggest box;
